1. REVIEW OF NSG PRIMARY SCHOOL, MANESAR
Providing value based and technology aided education to children/ward of NSG personnel has been one of the focus areas of NWYA for the year 2014. To achieve the aim NWYA Executive Committee led by President NWYA reviewed the functioning of erstwhile NSG Montessori School. The school was rechristened as NSG PRIMARY SCHOOL. Generously assisted by AWES Army Welfare Education Society, NWYA formulated a roadmap and brought welcome changes in terms of School Management Committee, Teacher-student Ratio, appointment of more qualified teachers, review of curriculum with emphasis on activity oriented, value based and technology aided teachings.
2. SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN 21ST APRIL TO 26TH APRIL
NSG Children Summer Adventure Camp, “Jump ‘N’ Joy Summer Camp -2014” aimed to inculcate the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, leadership and community living was organised under the aegis of NWYA in NSG Manesar Garrison wef 21st April to 27th April 2014. 175 children including 55 girls of various age groups participated in the camp. Activities like yoga, arts & crafts, self defence, aerobics, rock climbing, knots & hitches, gardening, treasure hunt, indoor games, nutrition and pottery were organised. Besides, story-telling competition, quiz, debate and sports competitions were also organised. The camp concluded with a camp fire marked by a lively cultural programme by participating children.
3. MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
To promote the right values and highlight the role and importance of mothers, amongst children, NSG Primary school, Manesar and all Ankur schools celebrated “Mother’s Day” on 5th June 2014 by organizing various events e.g poem recitation, story-telling, drawing competition, solo and group performances around the theme.
4. TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
Teacher’s Day was celebrated by NWYA on 5th September 2014 at NSG Primary school, NSG Garrison Manesar. Teachers and support staff of NSG Primary school and Ankur Schools were felicitated by Smt Radha Chaudhury, President NWYA on the occasion. A Skit by teachers and games formed part of the event.
5. WORKSHOP ON "CYBER SECURITY"
Realizing the need for generating awareness amongst children about the growing cyber threats particularly the use of Social media Like Facebook, Twitter etc., NWYA approached Sh Rakshit Tandon, Cyber Crime Expert and Adviser to UP and Gurgaon Police to conduct a workshop on "Cyber threats and cyber Security". The talk was attended by children studying in Class VIII and above. Besides, parents and computer literate commandos also participated in the event. The in-depth knowledge of the speaker on the subject explained with lucidity and combined with ability to interact with all ages contributed in achieving the desired outcome.
6. INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE GIRL CHILD
NSG Primary school and Ankurs schools observed the “International Day for the Girl Child” on 11th Oct 2014 in a befitting manner. Various activities such as poem recitation, skits, games, cultural activities and awareness talks were organized around the theme.
7. INAUGURATION OF “BOOK CAFE”
A Children’s library named, “Book Cafe”, adjoining Cyber Cafe at Shopping Complex, Manesar garrison was inaugurated on 27th October 2014 by Smt Radha Chaudhury, President NWYA. The library is specially for children but has a “Ladies Section” also. The library started functioning with 700 books in Hindi and English.
In consonance with the concept of free-cycling that captures the spirit of 3Rs: Reduce, Re-Use and Re-cycle and helps individuals to participate beyond consumerism by passing goods on for free, Officers and men have been requested to donate books generously for the library.
8. CELEBRATING ANNUAL SPORTS DAY AT NSG PRIMARY SCHOOL, MANESAR
9. NSG QUIZ CHAMPIONSHIP – 2015
National Security Guard under the aegis of NSG Wives’ Welfare Association (NWYA) conducted an Inter-School Quiz Championship for the students of Class-XI to XII on 18th April, 2015 at Manesar.
The Inaugural edition of the championship was dedicated to the loving memory of Rishav Narayan Choudhury, a member of the NSG family and son of Smt & Shri J.N.Choudhury, who passed away in a hiking accident in Arizona, USA on 12th March, 2015. Rishav was a seeker of knowledge and a Samaritan who considered himself very close to Mother Nature.
The participants for the championship included Starex International School, Manesar, Laxmi International School, Manesar, Deepika Public School, Manesar, Bal Bharati Public School, IMT Manesar, Delhi Public School, Manesar and Kendriya Vidyalaya, NSG Manesar.
Noted Mountaineer and Padma Shri, Smt Santosh Yadav graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Ms. Priyamvada Bhattacharya, Winner of National Quiz “Mastermind” in 2000 anchored as the Quiz Master. The championship saw an intense ten rounds of quizzing in which Kendriya Vidyalaya, NSG, Manesar won the Championship Trophy. DPS Manesar and Bal Bharti School, Manesar followed closely to second and third positions respectively.
Padma Shri, Smt Santosh Yadav presented a glittering Rolling Championship Trophy to Kendriya Vidyalaya, NSG, Manesar. All the participants were given Certificates and Knowledge Books. A cash prize of Rs.5000, Rs.3000 & Rs.2000 was also given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest urged the children never to give up what they want to do in life and said that a person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all facts. She also stressed on the need to protect Environment and Mother Nature. Vice-Presidents, NWYA Smt. Madhumita Das and Smt. Mary Moni Chandi presented Mementos to the Chief Guest and other Guests of Honour.
10. PAINTING AND PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN
"ZAMEEN SE FALAK TAK" (from Earth to Sky) - A painting and photography Exhibition and sale was organized on 16th may, 2015 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The art work displayed was by National Security Guard children in a competition held on 9th May,2015.The theme was "Flora and Fauna" at NSG Garrison Manesar which is spread over a sprawling 1612 acres of undulating terrain in the Aravalli Range. The aim of the competition was to create awareness about the environment among the children and to highlight the need for its preservation. The resources raised from the exhibition /sale will be primarily used for Prerna Rehabilitation Centre for children with special needs located at Manesar .In this regard, a function was conducted on 14th May,2015 at Manesar in which Shri Nitin Rai, well known Photographer gave away the prizes to our budding talents .Dr.Alka Pande, Curator and Art Adviser ,IHC, graced the occasion as chief guest at the centre and appreciated the tremendous potential and imagination shown by the children. Art professionals, Mrs. Alka Saran and Mr. Rishi Gajbhiye assisted in the conduct of workshops for the competition.
11. Mother's Day 8th, May 2015
Mother's Day was celebrated in NSG Primary School on 08th May, 2015. Mothers of all children studying in the school were sent an invitation to come to school. A special assembly was held where children were told about the Mother's day. Students of class II and III presented a song and dance sequence on the occasion. The children made a card and lemonade for their mothers which was given to them when they arrived. All the mothers played games and prizes were given to the winners. Children enjoyed the day thoroughly and made the day special for their mothers.
