Shri NPS Aulakh, IPS has taken over the charge of Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) on 28th Feb, 2009 from Shri Jyoti Krishan Dutt, IPS, who has superannuated.
Shri Aulakh is 1972 batch IPS officer of Punjab cadre. He had served in Punjab in different senior capacities as DIG(Adm) and on promotion as IG(Provisioning), Punjab Police. In the capacity of IG, he served as IG(Headquarters), IG(Investigation), Lok Pal. He was promoted to the coveted rank of Addl. DG and posted as ADG(Admn) in November 2001 and also served as ADG(Training) in Punjab Police and ADG, Punjab State Human Rights Commission. Subsequently he served as ADG(BSF). He was promoted to the rank of Special DG in August 2006 and later assumed charge of DGP of Punjab in March 2007.
Shri NPS Aulakh was awarded Police Medal for Meritorious service in 1987 and Police Medal for Distinguished service in 1996.
